As you know, tomorrow is Memorial Day, a time to remember the soldiers who have died for America and our freedom. Tomorrow at 8pm, we will have a small candle light memorial in our garden area for the Pagan soldiers who have served in our military and died for our freedom and our right to worship freely. This is a private event for members only unless otherwise approved by the Priestess or myself.
Temple’s Memorial Day Event

Posted in politics with tags politics on May 22, 2012 by The Temple Of The Greek GodsI know that political issues are heating up this year. There have been so many controversial things going on with the major parties and their politicians. While we at the Temple are allowed to espouse any political stance as private individuals, it is important to remember that our policy is that we are not allowed to endorse any policy or politician as clergy or as the Temple, even though we don’t currently collect 5013C status. It is a policy we have had since the beginning and one I take pride in upholding. The only time we as a Temple will get involved in politics is if civil rights or the environment are threatened, and we don’t even consider that to be political, we consider that to be upholding the Constitution and the rights of all humanity and Nature that the Gods gave us. The policy of the Temple of the Greek Gods to remain politically neutral will be adhered to. No politician nor any of their policies will ever receive any support or condemnation from our Temple or clergy.
Priest Christopher.
Summer Solstice Festival Reminder
Posted in Greek Gods, Hellenism, Pagan, Polytheistic on May 21, 2012 by The Temple Of The Greek GodsLocal Hellenists and general Pagans, please keep in mind that our 2nd Annual Helios and Apollo Summer Solstice Festival is coming up soon. Information can be found at the link at the bottom of this post. It will be at the same place we had the Gaea and Dionysus Earth Day Festival. For those of you who attended that Festival, know that the Summer Solstice will have much more in store as far as ritual is concerned. It won’t be strenuous or anything, and we are having it in the late afternoon to avoid the heat, there will just be more fun things in the ritual. Each year, our Festivals grow and improve. Anastasia and I hope to see all of you there.

I Restore Apollo’s Statue
Posted in Greek Gods, Hellenism, Pagan, Polytheistic on May 16, 2012 by The Temple Of The Greek GodsI decided to buy a second statue of Apollo for my personal shrine in my room. When I found my favorite design for a mere $9 in apparent top condition on ebay, I jumped on it. But when I received it, it was badly damaged and dirty. Its bow was broken completely off, the arrow and arrows in its holster were broken off and the statue was dirty. I refused to let this statue remain destitute, for there have been so many Hellenic statues destroyed or defaced. So I went to work repairing it. This is my progress in restoring this wonderful depiction of Lord Apollo.
Thinking On Socrates

Posted in Greek Gods, Hellenism, Pagan, Polytheistic on April 17, 2012 by The Temple Of The Greek GodsAnyone wanting to help in the Demeter’s Drive Food Charity have the following options.
1- If you live locally, stop by the Temple and drop off your canned goods.
2- You can make a canned donation to a local charity near you in the charity’s name and I will list your name (unless you prefer not) and your amount of food donations on the Temple’s charity news page.
We are still collecting foods for the drive donation. We usually only donate once a year after we have collected all the cans we can handle. I would appreciate anyone’s help in feeding the hungry and needy in our area.
On a side note, I have an idea for a new charity that I was thinking on trying. Since I love reading and education, I wanted to start a charity called the “Athena Educational Initiative.” Since Athena is the Goddess of wisdom, I named it after Her. It’s a charity that donates anything educational or that may aid in the education of students and the public, such as book donations to local libraries and school supplies donations.
Earth Day Approaching
Posted in earth day, Greek Gods, Pagan, Polytheistic on March 23, 2012 by The Temple Of The Greek GodsOur 2nd Annual Gaea and Dionysus Earth Day Festival is a month away on Saturday, April 21st, starting at 2pm at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Thomasville. There will be abundant food and drinks for everyone. The event activities and schedule will be as follows:
Festivities of the Day
2:30 pm – Introduction of The Temple, Clergy and Our Earth Day Celebration History.
2:45 pm – Opening prayer to Gaea and Dionysus as well as to the Nature and Spring Deities Artemis, Pan and Persephone led by the Priest.
3:00 pm – Ritual Begins. Starting off with the group walking out to the sound of the drum and pipes to a Tree of choice to circle and dance around in honor of the Spring Gods. Libation offerings are taken to be presented at the end of the dance. As before, the libation will be passed around to each member of the group, letting them say anything they want to Gaea or Dionysus or anything about them. When the libation reaches back to the Priest, it is poured out to both Deities. The group will then give worship and praise to Gaea and Dionysus.
3:15 pm – The Priestess begins her Nature meditation with the group.
3:30 – 4:00 pm Open Slot – Usually filled by a special event from the Priestess, but anytime that is left over is given to the people present to celebrate anyway they choose so long as it’s legal. There can be NO alcoholic drinks in the park. Attendants can also use this time to approach our temporary Altar space under the shelter and do their own offerings and prayers.
4:00 pm – Time to Eat and Free Divination will be available via the Tarot.
5:00 pm – Priest brings the Day’s Festival to a close with a prayer of thanks to the Gods. He will also take any questions from anyone.
5:30 pm – Begin packing up. It is not required, but it would be appreciated if some attendants could assist in packing up.
6:00 pm Festival is officially over.
